| Well, I've been searching this forum for a while and have came up with my pla for my NA 2+2 Z with over 120,000 now. I bought it like 4 months ago when I was the ripe age of 16, now I'm 17. I have one final year of high school before I fight my way for further education. Well here is my plan for the Z, I would love suggestions and comments. Please remember, I am on a high school budget, it's not like I can spend 3 grand for a paint job. Body
1)Buy jun *style* front for Z off ebay for 170 + shipping. Get installed for who knows how much.
2)Paint Job - the car still retains its original Pearl Color. It still looks amazing except for the unavoidable scratches and dings. But I had a lady hit my bumper, that bi.... So I want a paint job. I know you guys don't like Macco, but I don't have big bucks. I read that a guy got a great job done for $1500? on this board? I want the same color, just I need to repair the paint damage. I want to balance priced/quality job. Upgrades
1) Clutch - What kind of clutch do you suggest? I want a good clutch, but I heard the racing ones are very hard to drive with. Predicted cost $200-$300?
2) Aluminum Flywheel - I heard this a good upgrade and might as wheel take advantage when I replace the clutch. ~$400.
3) Underdrive Pulley - I heard commotion about this, but lots of people say its safe. I will put that in when the timing belt is replaced.
4) Exhaust - I already have mufflers tips on. But since the lady hit me, she hit my muffler too and knocked it crocked. So I plan on getting it cut off again and have the shop do a custom piping. They say they will do it for like $120-$170. -Others that I debate on:
1) ECU ($600?)- I heard it is a good upgrade, but it a bit pricey. I want one though, but is it that essential for a good Hp gain?
2) Headers (Almost a $1000?) - They are quite pricey and heard they wont even increase much HP for the buck.
3) Driveshaft (?)- Will it make a great difference? If so, how hard is it to get installed. Suspension
1) Eibach probably $200-$300? (Don't know too much about suspensions) Interior
1)Z toyz trim kit (I'm still debating wether I should get the whole set for about a Grand cause my front seats are pretty bad) Estimated cost for the next year or so: $3000-$4000. My parent probably will back me up on bout $1000(probably a lot more) on the repairs and paint. If everything goes right, I will a pretty good NA that can at least make those ricers look dumb and beat most hondas like the Type R, and I should be old enough to get a loan or grant to buy a TT. So what do you guys think and suggest?
